Claire Bishop
Claire Bishop is an experienced Latin educator with a strong record of teaching Latin I through AP Latin and NT Greek at the high school level, combining traditional and modern methods to make classical languages engaging and accessible. With dual MAs in Classics and World Language Teaching from the University of Kentucky, she also leads student trips to Europe and fosters immersive, culturally rich learning experiences.
Claire Bishop is a dedicated Latin educator with over a decade of experience bringing classical languages to life for high school learners. Currently teaching at Charlotte Christian School, she offers a dynamic curriculum ranging from Latin I to AP Latin and New Testament Greek, integrating a variety of instructional methods including grammar-translation, comprehensible input (CI), and reading-based approaches. Her students engage with classical texts through modern tools such as G Suite, Canvas, and interactive platforms like Gimkit and Blooket, making ancient language learning both rigorous and relevant.
Claire’s academic background includes dual Master’s degrees in Classics and Teaching World Languages from the University of Kentucky, where she graduated summa cum laude. Before her current role, she taught IB Latin and led extracurriculars such as the Junior Classical League and Academic Team at Tates Creek High School. She also brings years of one-on-one tutoring experience in Latin and Greek, supporting students from middle school through university level.
Beyond the classroom, Claire is a passionate advocate for immersive learning. She has organized and led multiple student trips to Europe, encouraging direct engagement with the cultural and historical contexts of the ancient world. Her teaching philosophy balances intellectual depth with practical accessibility, fostering lasting enthusiasm for Latin in diverse learners.
